Our Vision, Purpose, Mission and Core ValuesThe Vision of Langhorne Terrace Ministries is to be a caring community of believers. We will follow Jesus Christ, sharing our faith with friends and acquaintances, while using our spiritual design to change the world one person at a time. Our Purpose is to glorify God by fulfilling the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). This will be done by introducing people to Jesus Christ and helping them grow into fully devoted followers of Him. Our Mission is: To make disciples both at home and abroad by bringing individuals into a learning and living relationship with Jesus Christ. Core ValuesWorshipPeople have been created to worship God in every area of life. We will promote worship that is culturally relevant and Spirit-directed. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.” (Matthew 22:37-38) PrayerPrayer is the essential foundation of our relationship with God, of our spiritual growth as believers, and of all effective ministries. We will promote personal and corporate prayer as a regular discipline. “You have not because you ask not.” (James 4:2) CommunityPeople develop best in caring communities – which happens best in small groups. We will promote and provide small groups in which people can experience instruction, fellowship, and be allowed to serve based upon their spiritual design. “And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:39) “All men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.” (John 13:35) EvangelismLost people matter to God and should matter to us. We will train and encourage the sharing of the “good news” of Jesus Christ in relevant and creative ways. We believe that this will be accomplished through building relationships with un-churched people. “You are the light of the world. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14,16) InstructionThe Bible is God’s communication of truth to us and is essential for the transforming of lives and building of the church. Continuous spiritual growth is God’s will for both individual believers and the church. We will creatively communicate Biblical truths to encourage growth in all areas. ”... teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:20a) “If you love me, you will obey what I command you.” (John 14:15) ServingServing God and others with one’s own unique spiritual design is normal for totally devoted followers of Jesus Christ. God has called every Christian to function according to their design in ministry. We will identify, train, develop and provide opportunities for people to serve in ministry with their individual servant abilities. “It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” (Ephesians 4:11-13) StewardshipGod is the owner of all that we are and all that we have. We will promote and encourage Biblical stewardship as being an integral part of being a totally devoted follower of Jesus Christ. “Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.” (I Corinthians 4:2) ExcellenceExcellence honors God and inspires people. “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Colossians 3:1) The fulfillment of this vision, purpose, mission, and these core values will be accomplished by communicating God’s love and truth to all people by all means including, but not limited to, prayer (both individual and corporate), public services, Biblical preaching and teaching to all ages, creative and dynamic evangelistic outreaches in the community and regions beyond, culturally relevant music, developing true communities of relationships and care, and encouraging and equipping all believers to understand their own servant profile and give themselves to serving one another in love. |
